Position: Fitness Director
Pay Range: $23.00 -$25.00 per hour (depends on experience)

The Fitness Director is responsible for scheduling, budgeting, promoting, and facilitating, the fitness-based activities and excursions, with an emphasis on physical activity, and movement. All fitness activities, excursions and events must be designed to meet the interests, desires, and needs of the residents at the Community. All responsibilities must be completed in accordance with Company policies and procedures, current standards, guidelines, and regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as resource for residents on physical fitness and nutrition.
- Schedule fitness vendors weekly.
- Lead exercise classes weekly.
- Instruct residents on the safe operation of all exercise equipment. Maintain documentation of such training.
- Oversee safe swimming programs for Communities with pools.
- Maintain all exercise equipment and the fitness room in a safe and sanitary manner. Promptly arrange for equipment repair if items become damaged or inoperable coordinating the cost of such repairs with the Executive Director.
- Lead orientations/trainings to instruct residents and team members on the proper use of all machines and devices in the fitness center.
- Actively engage in resident activities through personally leading activities of both a fitness and non fitness nature.
- Assist the Activity Director in providing an interesting, creative, and rewarding social atmosphere throughout the Community.
- Promote resident participation through regularly scheduled high-quality activities, excursions, special events, guest speakers, movie showings, exercise sessions, establishment of clubs, games, art and creativity opportunities, educational classes and other such activities aimed at residents’ fitness and physical activity.
- Ensure activities and events honor and meet the social, fitness activity level, cultural, religious, ethnic diversity, and interests of the residents.
- Assist with the presentation of activities and excursions to be offered seven days a week.
- Engage in resident programming through personally leading and encouraging resident participation in all activities, excursions, and special events.
- As needed, create, set up, attend, and break down all special events held at the Community.
- As needed, accurately and timely performance of all clerical work connected with the position (Daily Activity Calendar and flyers).
- Ensure compliance with all Company policies and procedures for proper use of petty cash and credit cards in conjunction with performance of job duties.
- Ensure all vendor/entertainer invoices are processed accurately and timely and in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
- Safely transport residents as needed via Community vehicles; current driver’s license(s) based on state and federal regulations required.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Prefer one (1) year experience coordinating or teaching fitness related activities to seniors.
- Requires current driver’s license(s) based on state and federal regulations, prefer Commercial Class C Driver’s License (CDL) to transport residents.
- Able to safely operate standard fitness equipment.
- Knowledge of and/or ability to learn the theory and practice of assisted living and dementia care.
- Able to work with seniors and patiently interact with cognitively impaired individuals.
- Able to operate a personal computer and be proficient in MS Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Able to operate office equipment including, copier, telephone, postage machine, time clock, medical alert system.

- Able to read, write and speak the English language to interact and communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, physicians, health care professionals, residents, and their families.
- Must be highly motivated and able to work independently.
- Able to obtain and maintain valid First Aid, CPR, and Food Handler’s certification, as needed.
- Must pass a Criminal Background check and Health Screening tests.
- May require team members to vaccinate, participate in daily screening, surveillance testing, and to wear face coverings and other personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 or other communicable diseases, per regulatory guidelines.
